Brazil
Sprawling across half of South America, Brazil has captivated travellers for at least 500 years. Powdery white-sand beaches, lined with palm trees and fronting a deep blue Atlantic, stretch for more than 7000km. Dotting this coastline are tropical islands, music-filled metropolises and enchanting colonial towns. Inland, Brazil offers dazzling sights of a different flavour: majestic waterfalls, red-rock canyons, and crystal-clear rivers – all just a small part of the natural beauty.
"My 11 month Student Exchange Australia trip to Brazil has had a big impact on my future because it has allowed me to experience a culture totally different from my own Australian background. I lived with a family I had never met before and now I can't wait to visit them again. I have learnt another language (Portuguese) and have now studied and lived in a foreign country. I did it on my own and I loved it and if I can do that then I can do anything."
Keith McCann – Year to Brazil

Schools in Brazil
The school day is broken into two sessions. The first session starts at 7.15am and ends at 11.45am while the second starts at 2.30pm and finishes at 5.00pm. Children will attend one or the other sessions.
Age and Eligibility
To be eligible for an exchange to Brazil you must be between the ages of 15 and 18 and be enrolled at school when applying. Gap year students are eligible and need to depart no more than 3 months after completing their final year. There are no formal language requirements for Brazil. Your motivation to learn the language and experience the culture is more important that your formal language studies. Students are, however, strongly encouraged to work at the language before departure.
Visas
You will travel on a student visa and will need to lodge your application in person at the Brazilian Consulate serving your area. We will help you prepare your application.
