Lidia Williams - NSW to Canada
Wed 06 Jan 2010
Lidia Williams, from Atarmon NSW, is in Canada on a summer explorer program. She sent us this update just before the Christmas break:
Hi SEA,
"It's almost three weeks that I've been here and everything has been absolutely wonderful! School is great - the kids are really nice, and are fascinated in Australia. They love my accent! All the kids and the teachers are very friendly and welcoming. It turns out there is a maths teacher at my school on a teaching exchange from Aus. She's from Sydney too and we've been catching up.
It's getting pretty cold and it's snowed once or twice but it hasn't stayed yet. My family is lovely. I am getting on really well with my host Mum, and the cat and the dog, and I am looking forward to meeting the kids at Christmas.
I have started curling after school once a week. It's a sport on ice, which is actually much more difficult than it looks, but it is lots of fun and is very social so it's a great way to make friends. It's a lot of fun going to a school with no uniforms too!
I've been to an ice hockey game, and have done some sight seeing in Ottawa. Tomorrow I am going "downtown" for the annual Santa Parade.
Just thought I'd update you on how I'm going! Thanks so much!
Lidia"
