Sarah Rees - TAS to Italy
Fri 01 Feb 2008
Sarah Rees, from Rosny College in TAS, has had her first week in Italy on our Long Program. Here's her latest news.
Ciao Tutti
After 34 hours of plane riding and waiting I have arrived in Italy. Add "See The Alps" to a list of things you must do in your life time. They are truly amazing.
Today I had my first day of school! It was ah.. interesting. In my class there are 16 girls and two boys and most of the students can speak very good English. The best is Lisa and needless to say we get on very well! Today I had Religion, a 2 hour lecture about the German holocaust and then 2 hours of Italian. I found out my timetable today and, along with Maths, English, Sport, Religion and Philosophy, I have to study Italian, French, German and Latin! It is ridiculous. I am going to get so confused.
They could not have given me a more perfect class. My new Italian friends love all the music I like and they break out into song at random intervals. It's fantastic. And with sport we do heaps of different things like on Sabato (Saturday) we have one hour of gym and during that time we are doing a dance routine (lol). It's great. They tell me tomorrow I will like more than today at school because the classes are more fun.
My first Italian sentance was "Uno Giorno io capisco" which means one day I will understand :)
I have school from 8am to 1pm Monday to Saturday. I think it is going to take some time to get used to this. But after school I come home for lunch and then my day is free. I can do whatever I want. Today is Tuesday so all the shops will be open (half the shops don't open on Mondays) so I think I will either go for a bike ride or a walk or something now.
Ciao Amici
