Coordinator Training Weekend

Mon 02 Apr 2007

Community Coordinators from around Australia gathered recently in Sydney for a 3 day training workshop. The workshop was a chance for Coordinators to meet their counterparts from around the country and to gain useful updates on their role and responsibilities.

National Director, Nick Lorentzen, said “It was a genuine pleasure to bring this group together and to share our experience of student exchange. The workshop underlines our commitment to the training and development of our coordinators”.

Attendees reviewed a wide range of issues including:

  • Role and responsibilities of Coordinators
  • Student Supervision
  • Problem resolution
  • Placing Students
  • Administration

Suggested improvements to work practices were also discussed.

Feedback on the weekend was unanimously positive and included the following comments:

  • "thorougly informative, loved it, great job"
  • "well put together and presented"
  • "great workshop, very informative, fantastic to meet other colleagues"
  • "this was an overwhelmingly beneficial weekend"
  • "A great experience to share with other coordinators, to meet the staff (the voices) and to realise the great generosity of people in our society. Leadership of the SEA program is a great model for the positive outcomes it is enjoying. Well done!"
