Denmark - the perfect exchange destination

Wed 02 Aug 2006

National Director, Nick Lorentzen, recently visited Student Exchange Australia’s Danish partner, My Education, at their Copenhagen offices.

Cooperation between the two organisations has increased in recent years because of what is known in Denmark as “the Mary effect” (after Australian born Mary Donaldson married Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark). Nick thanked Director, Niels Frandsen, for the excellent support provided to Australian students hosted in Denmark.

Niels invited current Australian exchange students Kirsten Long, Hobart College, Tasmania and Sandi Gatt, Canterbury Girls Secondary College, Victoria to join Nick and his wife, Tina, for lunch at Tivoli gardens. The group were also joined by the girls' local coordinator, Nana (herself a previous exchange student).

Nick said” Denmark is the perfect exchange destination. Danes are open, pragmatic people who have a strong interest in the world. It was great to meet Kirsten and Sandi during their exchange and to see how well they are progressing. They are terrific young Australians who have chosen to get out in to the world. They will reap the benefits in future years”
